In October
1842 whilst visiting Padstow, Charles Dickens was greatly inspired and
penned a Christmas Carol in which he based the character Jacob Marley
on his good friend Dr. Miles Marley. His son Dr. Henry Frederick Marley
practiced in Padstow for 51 years and died at his home in St. Issey on
27th January 1908. Image above of Dr Henry Frederick Marley's daughters 1904. Image left Charles Dickens. |
